Nov 29 – A Very Late Happy T-day!

Posted by SplitSuit On November - 29 - 2011

Happy Turkey day a few days (ok, quite a few days) late. I ended up taking Thursday to Saturday totally off, and Sunday was a light day as well. Getting work done last week was tough as my brain went into vacation mode really quick…but I still smashed through and finished as much as I could. My girlfriend and I left early Thursday and got out to my grandparents in Palm Springs in time for the food and festivities. My uncle and his family were in as well, so it was a pretty jam packed family weekend.
.

.
Besides food and the normal family catch-up game…we went to the zoo and also did the Palm Springs Tram. The zoo was pretty sweet as they had a lot of desert animals that I hadn’t seen before (including snakes/spiders)…and the tram was the same as it has been for every year prior lol. Still got some good pictures, and the lady friend seemed to enjoy it all (which is all that matters). We got back into town on Saturday night (after stopping at the Tanger shops for some random stuff) and just chilled out on Sunday. Overall, a nice lil mini-vacation.
.
This week is right back into the grind. Coaching has randomly started picking back up, and I’ve been setting up a lot of LeakFinders. I’m starting to use some new software which is making LeakFinding a damn blast…so if you are looking for some coaching that utilizes your DB…let me know =) I’ve also gotten back to my video grind and am considering putting another big project on my shoulders in the next few months. We shall see. And coupled with that I’m thinking about putting my resume together and doing some job shopping once the new year kicks in. So if you know anyone who is hiring for iMarketing, SEO, video production, etc…just let me know =)
.
Other than that, everything else is going well. My focus has been kind of hellish lately, but I think by smashing my schedule full of projects and giving myself very little breathing room I will work through it lol. Hope all is going well with you, and cheers to crushing the last little bit of 2011!

Nov 21 – That’s More Like It!

Posted by SplitSuit On November - 21 - 2011

The last week, as usual, was pretty hectic. I was wrapping up the final issue of “The Inner Circle”, finishing a couple videos for The Poker Bank, and also prepping the webinar for Saturday. The webinar was for anyone who had purchased the 100K system, and covered hand reading using stats, shapes, and contortion. The webinar went really well and all the feedback I’ve gotten has been very positive. I might think about doing another webinar in the future…so if you are interested, just let me know!
.

.
I also had a ton of chores and random stuff to do last week. I finally got my new iPhone 4S, got a bunch of my xmas presents purchased and shipped, and also did the prep work on getting my watch fixed. A very small piece of my clasp fell out which makes my watch randomly come undone for no reason…so it’s been quite lifetilting. And even more so that no one can easily fix it (though I suppose that’s what you get for buying a Rado). O well…it is what it is.
.
I got done with work a bit early last night and decided to go play some live over at MGM. (hint: this is what the title of the post refers to!). My new thing has been starting each session buying in for 50bb and then adding on once I have a feel for the table. The smaller stack size forces me to tighten up which then gives me more time to develop reads and ideas. I ended up getting it aipf with QQ v a player who shaping up to be very active PF’s AA and obvi whiffed my equity. Bought back in for 100b and went to work…
.
Swongs were the name of the game last night. I dubbed up a little while later with on a flop and was at around $500 at that time. My image was a lil splashy by this point…and I was finally dealt . MP open limped (an odd young player with a $300 stack), I raised to $13 (table standard) from the CO and get 3 callers (MP included). Flop is . They all check to me, I bet for $26 and only MP calls. Turn is a and I bet $58 once he checks. He tanks for a little bit and CRs to $158 total (leaving about $100ish back). I jam, he snaps with 86o and I brick my equity. Also, given how he was playing I thought it was 4 combos max of 86 (just suited, and discounted clubs slightly thinking he would CR the flop with it sometimes). And there are 6 combos of worse sets, some combos of 2pr, etc. *sigh*
.
I then grind grind grind and finally get back to about a $400 stack. I raise a limper to $17 (later in the night when the PF sizes were getting larger) with AA from MP and get called by a middle aged dude behind me (nitty, but would raise SDV hands postflop in odd spots) who liked me in the CO and the limper. The flop was T73r and I bet $36 only to get called by the CO. The turn was a K and I went into c/c mode and lost another $160 versus TT. I swear…if I ever DON’T run into the nuts I will be shocked.
.
I ended up burning another $250 later in the night when I squeezed AK to $38 over a $10 open+caller and went 3 way to the flop of . They both checked to me and I CB for $141 (they wouldn’t fold a pair to a normal sized bet…but would often if it were big). The same guy from the AAv86 hand shoved and I called the last $40. He had and obvi spiked it. Needless to say it was frustrating…and I also whiffed two LRRs at a very ISO-happy table with KK (and both saw Axx flops). O well…only lost 2.5BI or so…which isn’t all that bad when you consider that I got murdered with AA.
.
And a last minute note, RiskOriented is running a contest giving away a free copy of “Dynamic Full Ring Poker”…so if you are interested in that, just click here! Hope all is well!

New SplitSuit Video Series

Posted by SplitSuit On November - 14 - 2011

As I mentioned the other day, I finally finished my new project! I am proud to introduce The 100K Micro-Stakes System: Crushing 50NL In 2012 to the world. After a couple weeks of research and a month of endless organizing, recording, editing, and re-editing…my new 6hr long video series is ready to rock. This comprehensive poker video series is perfect for live poker & online games, full ring & 6max, and is ready to help you crush in 2012!

New SplitSuit Poker Video Series

This video series is jam-packed with 12 videos, 3 bonus videos, and everything you need to improve your winrate. The entire video series clocks in at just over 6 hours, and is sure to invigorate your poker game and revamp your thought process. So what topics are covered in this series? Read the entire table of contents (complete with runtimes and video synopsis) below:

1. PREFLOP BASICS (Runtime: 26 minutes)

In order to improve in poker you need to have a solid foundation, and this video will build that foundation. We discuss the power of position, opening hands, and discuss stack sizes (both in terms of what we should use and how to adjust to other stack sizes). There is also a solid section dealing with SPR, a powerful concept that can help us visualize and create lines preflop and postflop.

2. COLD CALLING (Runtime: 28 minutes)

Calling raises preflop can be confusing, but this video aims to simplify this important action. We review various hand types, including pocket pairs and broadway hands, and the variables that go into deciding how to call them preflop.

3. ISOLATING (Runtime: 23 minutes)

Attacking limpers is a great way to pad your winrate…but knowing how to do so can be a bit complex. This video reviews isolating the most common limpers, and delves into the hand ranges to use and the ideas to keep in mind. We also go a step further and look at multi-way pots and consider the appropriate ranges to raise with.

4. 3BETTING VALUE HANDS (Runtime: 16 minutes)

What is a value 3bet, and how do we know it is actually for value? This video answers those questions and more. We also discuss 4betting and 5betting for value, creating a very clear framework to understand this valuable preflop action.

5. 3BETTING BLUFFS (Runtime: 23 minutes)

We aren’t dealt very many monsters…but that doesn’t mean we can’t make money with those junky hands! This video explores 3betting, 4betting, and 5betting bluff hands. We look at some basic math, explore components like sizing and blockers, and discuss which players to abuse (and how!)

6. BEING DYNAMIC PREFLOP (Runtime: 19 minutes)

Being dynamic is crucial for being at the top of today’s games. This video looks at various ways to break away from default actions and ranges. We explore different plays like aggressive stealing, cold calling with evil intentions, and even back-raising. If you are looking for some extra spots to create preflop profits…this is a great place to start!

7. HAND CLASSIFICATION (Runtime: 22 minutes)

The initial step in playing a solid postflop strategy is classifying your hand strength. This video reviews the 4 basic hand classifications and default ideas with each. Start classifying your hands better while having better ideas on playing them postflop!

8. BLUFF CBs (Runtime: 26 minutes)

We tend to miss flops often, so knowing how to bluff them is crucial for making more money. In this video we pull out Flopzilla and start visualizing how various ranges hit various flops. We also review details like bet sizing, elasticity, equity, and correctly estimating how often our opponent will fold.

9. FLOP PLAY (Runtime: 28 minutes)

There are only 3 cards on a flop, and yet endless possibilities! This video goes through a collection of situations, from simple to complicated, and reviews correct lines and mindsets. Everything from playing value hands to floating is covered in this in-depth video.

10. TURN & RIVER PLAY (Runtime: 25 minutes)

Turns and rivers can be very confusing, but this video simplifies them. We review a number of common situations and discuss optimal lines and thought processes. By simply classifying our hand, and looking at the correct information, these complicated streets can become very profitable.

11. 3BET POTS POSTFLOP (Runtime: 24 minutes)

Whether we 3bet for value or as a bluff, playing these pots postflop can be tough. This video goes through each hand classification in a 3bet pot, and discusses lines and ideas for each. We notice that by simply asking ourselves what a bet can accomplish, and looking at some basic math, these situations can be easy as pie.

12. A COLLECTION OF POSTFLOP HANDS (Runtime: 24 minutes)

Who can get enough postflop strategy? This collection of postflop hands brings up spots that weren’t covered in any of the other postflop videos, and fills in some of the gaps. By looking at various examples against various player types, this video will get you visualizing postflop in a more profitable manner.

13. PLAYER TYPES *BONUS* (Runtime: 20 minutes)

Our opponents can usually fit into one of a few player type categories, and this video reviews each one. We discuss each player type’s basics ideas, mistake propensities, and simple ways to identify them. From there we create default strategies and adjustments for beating them.

14. POKER MATH *BONUS* (Runtime: 22 minutes)

There is a lot of math in poker, but the math is actually quite simple. This video breaks down the crucial math necessary to understand poker, and then takes it a step further. We review everything from basic odds to EV equations, all while reviewing how to use this math for real poker decisions. Whether you need to learn poker math or simply need a refresher…this video is sure to help you out!

15. POKER ESSENTIALS *BONUS* (Runtime: 32 minutes)

This video touches on a bunch of concepts that didn’t fit well into other videos. We review a collection of personal topics, such as bankroll management and creating a poker plan, and various strategies to employ. Other topics like tilt management and table/seat selection are covered, as are my own personal ideas and strategies for them.

As you can see, every necessary concept is covered. These videos also use a wide variety of teaching styles, from using poker software like PokerStove & Flopzilla, to reviewing poker theory in the classroom, to running through hands in the replayer. I also use my unique presentation style that uses a heavy emphasis on graphics and on-screen text to ensure that both audio and visual learners are accounted for! Wondering what one of these videos might look like? Here is the first video in the series, in its entirety, for your viewing pleasure:

.

While I’ve done some of these concept videos in the past, each video in The 100K Micro-Stakes System takes a fresh and comprehensive look at the subject matter. If you have any leaks in your game, or just feel that your winrate isn’t as high as it could be…this video series is a must. And with a 90 day money-back guarantee…you can’t go wrong. Nov 14 – More Grinding + Another Webinar!

Posted by SplitSuit On November - 14 - 2011

Things have been going very well lately. I finished up my big video series, did my free webinar on Saturday, and have been crushing my work left to do before Thanksgiving. The webinar went well, and lasted a bit over an hour (with 40 minutes of content and 30 of QnA). I talked all about hand classifications, and picked some examples which really stirred up some questions. And from the feedback I’ve gotten, people seemed to enjoy it and learned quite a bit =)

I also went out last night and got some more live grinding in. Just played down at MGM (I’m beginning to like the room for the space, 9 handedness (which often times breaks down to 6-7 handed for random spurts), and the fish the room seems to attact whenever I go. Last night I actually had a bunch of cool spots. The first, and something that isn’t a normal “issue”…was which seat should I take *cue “Friday”*. We started a new table and there were 9 of us. I am unable to sit in seat 2 or 8 due to my vision issues from that far out. The only two competent looking kids (younger, confident, asking to buy in for the max, etc.) quickly take seat 6 and 7. Everyone else looks like mega fish (the mid-40s “I’m bored and want to play every hand lol” type). So the question is do you take seat 9, which puts you on the left of what would likely turn out to be regs (but put all the fish on your left)…do you take seat 1 which which puts you across the table from the regs and splits up some of the fish (some on your right and left)…or do you take seat 5 and put all the fish on your right and just hope the reggy kids aren’t aggro 3bettors? I’ll share my thoughts later if you share yours =)
.
The session was pretty solid. Had an early win with 76s on 766 against A6 and held. Got a few light 3bets in, and got a few steals through later in the night. My most interesting hand was one where a P-fish open-limped from the HJ with $300. I overlimped Qs9s ($300) from the CO (as I couldn’t ISO at this table), and everyone else came along. Flop came Qd 9h 2d. Everyone checked to me and I bet $8 into $10, BB and P-fish call. Turn is an 8c, BB checks, P-fish donks out for $20. Really odd spot given his passivity…but I thought he might make some odd decisions like that against me (as I had been kind of active at that point). I made a raise to $53 and he called + called a brick river VB with 82 (lol open-limp PF). The turn decision was awkward given the little bit of extra stack depth, his range and how it would contort (both calling and raising if I raise the turn) and also because a P-fish donked in a spot where he shouldn’t have a ton of 2pr type hands. Meh…at least I thought it was interesting lol.
.
Everything else has been going well. I have to crush through some extra work this week (do a video or so for PokerBank), and also prep my webinar for Saturday. If you order the 100K Micro-Stakes System before Saturday you will be given a ticket to join my Saturday webinar all about Advanced Hand Reading Strategies. I’m going to talk about translating stats to real ranges, shapes, range contortions, and other fun things. So if you are looking for some extra value for buying my new video series…there it is =) Hope to see you there!

Nov 3 – Project: Complete!

Posted by SplitSuit On November - 3 - 2011

As the title says, I finished my project! Details will be released shortly (either this weekend or early next week). All I will say is that I am really proud of the work that went into it, and think the value in it is too sick. I’m also almost done with the promo video/material as well, so hopefully I can share that soon =)
.

.
Everything has been going really well. I took Tuesday/Wednesday pretty easy this week (as I finished the project on Monday)…just doing some light work, some light emailing, and just trying to let my brain dumb out. Unfortunately, I am really in grind mode…and even though I want to take a vacation right now…I think I’m just going to hunker down and crush through the rest of the year. So I have some video making to do this weekend, and also some prep work for future projects…
.
I also got some live play in the other day. Just went down to MGM and played…even though I dislike MGM (and that dislike continues ftr). The tables there have this ridiculous marble rail around it…which makes it really awkward when trying to riffle chips. And the betting line is like a million yards away…and it’s strictly enforced. The table wasn’t bad…but I was card dead most of the night. My most interesting hand was a 4bet ship with AK against an 80bb player who folded. So yea…just a low variance grind night.
.
Also, for those of you who are interested, ThePokerBank has set up an “ASK SPLITSUIT ANYTHING” page. So if you have any questions (poker or not) for me…feel free to fire them up there and I will get to them ASAP. And the last thing…is make sure to email subscribe (over to the right). I sent a special deal over the weekend which was very received, and I might plan on doing that in the future =) Hope all is well!
