August 19 – High Blood Pressure? Thanks Poker!

Posted by SplitSuit On August - 19 - 2009

Just wanted to put up a quick blog post before I crash out. Things have been going pretty well this week. Although it feels like it is already Friday…damn long feeling weeks. Went to the doctors on Monday and everything checks out except for a lil high blood pressure. Im guessing much of that can be attributed to stress and lack of sleep, so not really surprising. Also got some numbers from them to further me along on my quest for adderall, so hopefully I can get that all figured out soon.

I have actually been falling asleep much quicker the last couple of days. Only 1hr on average to crash out! I have been doing a little yoga at night to burn some energy and it is helping thus far. Also realized how bad my balance has become, so it’s nice to get that back on track. I need to get in better shape, so yoga and maybe actually a run or so should help that. I hate being busy with things that are a higher priority than keeping in shape.

Business stuff is going well. Spent lots of time the last few days dealing with lawyer stuff. Also been working on an upcoming project that should be quite amazing when finished. I know I have been very elusive as to what the project is for the last few months, and I apologize. Just know it should be pretty damn awesome when released =)

That all being said, I need sleep badly. Fingers crossed I can get right to sleep. Hope all is well!

July 23 – I Am Moving…

Posted by SplitSuit On July - 23 - 2009

Just a quick update before everything starts moving quicker than I want it to. The situation in this current place got bad, so Chris and I are moving out. Hoping to get everything fully figured out in the next few days…fingers crossed!

That being said, I have been coaching a ton. Have my eight session this week this afternoon, and then am trying to not schedule anything until after the move is complete and I am set up. I really wanted to grind out some more, but stress + grinding = no go. Speaking of stress, I also got through my brother’s anniversary alright, just took the day easy, did 2 students, and then relaxed and passed out early. And to make up for this horribly short post, here is some awesome music to jam out to from Deadmau5. Enjoy!

July 13 – iPlay Poker

Posted by SplitSuit On July - 13 - 2009

The weekend was pretty relaxing actually. Got some work done, but mostly relaxed and took it easy. Got my sleep schedule back to something respectable, and I’m feeling much better about everything right now. My live stake ended as well (staker wanted to clear everything before he left Vegas, which I fully understood), so I spent this weekend playing some more online. Felt good, though I played much too loose my first few sessions back. Playing overly-loose on the weekend = waste of time.

But it feels really good to put some grindcore in. My roommate has actually been sweating a few of my sessions, and I think my play is getting sicker because of it. We really got to discuss some of the pressure points in FR that are super exploitable, and my LAG (26/23 ftw) game is getting even better. I think playing during the weekdays will be super advantageous for me as the table VPIPs are like 13% and I can just run over tables with 3b-ing, ISO-ing, and postflop prowess.

So despite a few set < sets, AA < KKs, and random crap, I'm back in the green for the month. Decided I would spend the rest of the day relaxing and went out to shop for a little while. Bought some new running shoes (because I plan on running at some point), and a few shirts. I love getting new things. And speaking of such, my tattoo is doing quite well...just starting to peel, but it looks really solid. I'll post a new picture once the peeling is done.

And on that note...I'm exaughsted. Going to crash out and then get up for coaching and grindcore. Hope all is well, and enjoy this mix of songs I've been listening to non-stop this weekend.

June 30 – Sleep Isn’t For Me

Posted by SplitSuit On June - 30 - 2009

My sleep schedule has been epic bad the last few days…so I have spent a lot of my time trying to sleep. It got really bad the other day when I had to get some work done by 5a, and then had the uFR draft for the July Challenge at 11a (btw, whoever made it at that time is a jerk, lol). So I stayed up, went to bed after coaching at like 3p and woke up at 9p. Aaaaaaaaaand the sleep schedule has been terrible since. Damn sleep…

This will be pretty scattered, so I applogize in advance. On Friday I went down to the strip and put in a session at the Venetian. Really couldn’t get anything going. Pretty card dead, and my SC’s were just bricking in epic ways. O well. Got back at 3a, put in a Halo session, and crashed out. In an effort to play more poker I have been playing a little 6max. Still getting used to it, so just messing around 3tabling 25NL and just trying to get used to how online 6max works. Not bad, but it’s odd thinking I’m playing tight and it turns out I’m running a silly 48/36 ATS: 77 3b: 9.

Also played a 2hr HU session of PLO the other day with Cwar. Very interesting game. I’m still trying to get the hang of it (because I want to be proficient at every game ever…except LHE), and I’m amazed at how different this game is from PLO8. I came from PLO8 actually back in 2005. I love the game, and still love it…but sadly it will never be big. The edge you can gather is just too large, especially in 6max and HU games, so the fish have no sustainability. Who knows…maybe a capPLO8 game could get huge =)

Other than poker stuff, work is going well. The product is moving along pretty nicely, and the time and effort is looking like it’s paying off well. I’ve also been experimenting with some SEO (to get the hang of how Goggle indexes things, etc) stuff that will help the business (so if you notice the title tags on some pages seem a little odd, that is why). I know I’ve mentioned it before, but because I am still pissed off, I will reiterate how angry I am that at no point in my college career did I learn about iMarketing. So I am still learning and trying new things to see what I can do with it…it really is amazing the opportunities available in it though.

And on that note, I am going to crash out. I’m looking forward to July for some odd reason, so cheers to it being a good one. Also, enjoy this song. Amazing to say the least

June 26 – Random+Music Playlist

Posted by SplitSuit On June - 26 - 2009

Just a quick update and a patch of random things I’ve forgotten to mention over the last week or so.

1.) While I was back in Boston (my last night oddly enough), I was attacked by a bat. I’m not sure why I forgot to write about this, but O well. Took my dog out at like 2a for his late nighter, and because I walk him without a leash (he’s a fairly good listener), he was out doing his business in the lawn. While he’s out there, I feel something just land on my left back shoulder (like if someone lightly threw a Nerf football at your back). I instantly got my shirt off, threw it on the ground (just as my protective 5lb dog comes over to help) and see the gross bat just trying to get out of it. Damn bats. Lucky for me, no bites or anything, just really odd.

2.) I went with my housemates to “Rosemary’s” last week. Absolutely delicious. I am a huge seafood buff and was a bit turned off by the panko crusted crab boulettes , but the shrimp tartar made up for it. Pan seared scallops for dinner and some awesome cheesecake for dessert…awesome place imo. Will def be going back, and because my housemates are obsessed, and it’s a little pricey, we decided that it’s a place to go when business stuff goes right.

3.) Business stuff is going well. Ended up running into a roadblock, but it turned out to be easily fixable. There are 3 main jobs, and everyone was trying to do all the jobs for their section of work…oddly enough though, everyone wanted to do 1 of the jobs, so we are just streamlining because of it. Cheers to Mr. Ford and his assembly line procedures.

4.) My sleep schedule is nut bad right now. Bed at 6a, up at 11a for coaching. Like every day. I need to get it back on track. I will rummage around for some left over melatonin after I write this.

That seems like enough for this random ass post. Sorry the thoughts are kind of haphazard, just wanted to write something. Enjoy the playlist…I heard a bunch of Jedi Mind Tricks this week, and wanted to share some of the ones I’ve listened to like 90x this week =)

Hope all is well

June 12 – iRant

Posted by SplitSuit On June - 12 - 2009

I have been busy as hell, and loving it all. I have been getting a ton of action from prospect students which has been awesome, and had 3 different intro-sessions this week. The new “PM for Coaching” title I have on 2p2 seems to be a much better marketing tool than the old post in the coaching forum. At first I was skeptical about the new change in policy, but I actually think it will be much better for the forums overall. It encourages coaches to post more strat (exposure, ldo) and brings up the level of solid participation. Good stuff for everyone!

Other than coaching, I’ve been going into Boston a lil bit to hang out with this girl I like. I swear, Boston is the worst city ever. For the listed reasons:

1.Every other city I’ve ever lived in has had a fairly grided layout of roads. Not Boston! Nope. In fact, I think they let somebody with parkinsons draw the city layout.

2.I think MA spends all of their tax money on things OTHER than road signs.

3.Bostonians seem to be mentally retarded when it comes to driving.

4.Let’s look at an example: The left lane is closing so you must merge right. It is closed in 1/4mi. There have been signs for the last 4mi letting you know of such things. And yet, these fucking retards speed up the last 1/4mi to try and “beat” people in. Fantastic! Good job sir! You just created traffic because you felt you were going to “fool” us all! Thumbs up to you dude!

5.There are just too many other reasons to list, so I will cut this short

Oddly enough, I feel better having gotten that off my chest, lol. Though I suppose I have to pick my poison. In Boston I deal with “entitled retardation” and in Vegas I deal with pure retardation. I just realized I’ve probably said the word retard about 92 times, so I will stop.

As far as poker goes, I’ve been focusing on coaching and business stuff, so I haven’t been able to put in much volume. I was supposed to go down to a Boston game with ForGlory the other night, but it ended up not going. O well. And on top of that, I had two checks frozen in the whole processor thing. At least I made some money off the deal, but I’d much rather have cash in hand =) So hopefully they get this whole thing figured out sooner than later. I also watched the most insane interview reviewing different view points on the whole situation. Without going into a huge rant (which seems to be a common theme in this post, my apologies), the government really needs to improve education rather than try to protect Americans by blinding us from the “evils”. DUCY? If a person is educated better, they will make better decisions, which means government won’t need to protects us from everything. Silly government

Alright, that’s enough complaining from me tonight. Here is a random playlist of Prodigy songs. I randomly found a few tracks from them last night, and was vibing for quite a few hours. Enjoy!

May 28 – mmmmmmm…..Steak!

Posted by SplitSuit On May - 28 - 2009

So work has been going very well. Did some restructuring today, and have been finalizing the product as well. Feels good to be going in the right direction. I start my live stake tomorrow, so I can finally start grinding more live. So fingers crossed I get a good jump on it and maybe I’ll be at 5/10 sooner than later =)

Other than that, it’s nice to have my car back in shape again. I always feel like a bum if I cannot use my car for any reason. Though I also feel isolated if my Internet isn’t working at any given time, so I think it’s just more that I need the option at all times. I really think that is a side-effect of our generation. We need connectivity and options at all times, we are the generation of Internet and customization, so I suppose it isn’t that surprising.

I am also going back to Boston in a week. My sister is graduating highschool and then her birthday is a week later, so I’ll be around for that, and head back to Vegas in mid June. Kind of sucks because those are great grind weeks, and also kind of imperative to the product launch, but I will still be hustling. Will be good to see family again, as it feels like awhile (even though it’s only been a month, lol)

And here is a random playlist I’ve been listening to for the last few hours. Thank you ForGlory for the find on Justice =)

May 15 – And It Continues On…

Posted by SplitSuit On May - 15 - 2009

I hate writing blog posts when I feel like I have nothing new or awesome to say, but I also hate not updating…so here it goes.

Work continues. We are getting so much done right now it is sickening…and the greatest thing is that even if this business fails out, at least we have such a springboard for the next business. It is kind of odd to think that at this age I have a sick understanding of such a wide range of business aspects. This is in no way a brag, just something that I am constantly trying to improve on but is cool to me.

So something I have been thinking about lately is the concept of money. Now I am going to say something that 90% of readers will disagree with, but I truly believe it with the given conditions. Ok, here we go…

“Money does not exist”

The conditions being 1.) you are intelligent and 2.) you do not have a 9-5. Now, the obvious thought after giving those conditions is that “well no shit money doesn’t exist, you aren’t making any, ldo”. However, assuming you can make cost of living doing something that doesn’t take up 40+ hours of your week, you have the ability to make money appear. You have the time to create a business. You have the ability to create a business. You don’t have the stress of the 9-5 that doesn’t only take up 40+ hours a week, but it also drains into your real life with stress and such.

There is obviously more to it, but that is the general thought. Thoughts?

And to finish up this post, here is a playlist of rap stuff I put together last night (the Eminem v. Royce da 5′9″ battle at the end is sooooooo sick and classic). Enjoy!
