February 25 – Podcast 2: Thoughts On Current Games And Styles

Posted by SplitSuit On February - 25 - 2010

It seemed that people enjoyed the last podcast, so I figured I would make another one. This one answers some of Anthony’s questions from the first podcast’s comments. I talked about the differences between FR and 6max, and also which game is best from a WR v hourly standpoint. I also talked about my views on play styles from a WR, variance, and also growth perspective. Hopefully you enjoy it!

    5 Stars.
I really enjoy listening to you talk about poker. With every question answered two more pop up. I’ve been playing 6 max for over a year. After listening to you view on full ring. Spent some time watching FR. Noticed (lot’s utg limping, odd betting, weak blinds) = PROFIT. Thank you for taking time to do these pod cast.

    Wow.

I’ve recently begun to take my game very seriously (I’ve been skating by on a relatively static, but winning, 6M TAG style).
I totally get where you’re coming from regarding focusing one’s attention, not on winrate, but on improving. And I see how this potentially works very well with developing one’s LAG game (You didn’t say this anywhere, but I see how the two could potentially work cohesively).

I’m truly a small stakes 6M player with ambitions to reach at least the mid-stakes, and with good fortune and hard work, the high stakes games. The information you share is invaluable to someone in my position. Thanks very much. My friend told me about your website, and I’m happy he did.
