I got busted out of my first event a few hours ago. Was actually chipleader after 2 hands (I got on the good side of AA v KK, and somehow held!?), and then played one hand that blew up my stack against the other table chipleader (FatalError). The big hand I am fine with in a cash game environment, but I don’t like my play in a tourny environment. I was overexposed, especially with a chip stack that would have coasted me until dinner break. Lesson learned…pay more attention to survival while playing MTTs.

Went out the other day to play some cash (just 1/2NL at the V because i was bored and didn’t want to grind online). Ran super well like usual. Raise to $11, I 3b to $38 with KK, SB cold flats (we both have $300 effective) and go HU. Flop is 983r. He checks, I bet $48, he check/minraises me, I shove and his 99 holds (cuz why not flop top set on the board that TT-QQ should be your entire range?!). Claw my way back to even and then raise JJ UTG, get 2 callers ($300 effective against both). Flop is Jx6d5d. I CB $14, both call. Turn is a 6x and I opt to dub for $42, just 1 caller. River is a 6x and I bet $73 and call the shove because I don’t fold the 2nd nuts live. He shows me 76, I giggle at how bad I will forever run, and go home.

Everything else is going well. I feel super sharp right now, and overall in a really good mental state. I was a little concerned at how I would handle busting in bigger events, but I have the “full separation of BI and $” down cold. My next event is on Wednesday (a $1.5K event), so we shall see how we fair in that one. I’m off to nap, as I slept like shit last night, and it is hot as hell today. Take it easy…
