Oct 3 – Looooong Weekend

So at some point last week I ended up getting sick, and this lil flu-thing is kicking my ass. I have been insanely tired all weekend, and it could not have happened at a worse time. I had 8hrs of coaching last night, 3hrs today, 3hrs tomorrow… Of course I get sick when I go into an insanely busy coaching time. *sigh* I have been chugging Dayquil between coaching sessions hoping to stay functional, and hopefully a few more good nights of sleep will get me back to 100% soon.

In this post I will recount some random things from the last few days. I met a new girl for the first time last week, turns out she had cats, and I am pretty damn allergic to cats. I ended up breaking out in hives almost immediatlely, and obviously left pretty damn quickly. I took benadryl to get rid of the hives, which ended up making me drowsy as hell. I had two coaching sessions to do that afternoon, which were incredibly tough to do while fighting the damn drowsiness. Needless to say, it was a rough day.

On Saturday I ended up doing a live coaching session down at Aria. The room is very different than any other room I have ever played in. Very young room, and overall seemed much more competent than anything I’ve ever experienced in a live casino. He plays 1/3NL so we played that for the session, and the game quickly got very loose and spalshy, with two Israeli guys screaming and having a good time. I’m pretty sure the floor yelled at them to speak English only about 19x…however, they weren’t keen on listening. It made for an interesting day.

The session was relatively boring tbh. They were splashing around, I ran pretty damn card dead, and my student was pretty much doing the same. I was able to spot about $60 in outright betsizing errors, and helped him clean up some of his PF range and CB spots. The only real hand to note for me was actually made as a slight misread. A very splashy NZ guy stradled to $6, my student calls from MP, I compete the BB with AJ with intentions of backraising if NZ attacked the straddle. NZ raises to $16, my student calls, and I backraise to $61. Now, at this point I thought NZ had $120 to start the hand…however, it turns out he had a few papers that I was unaware of (a detail I rarely miss). NZ calls and my student folds. The flop comes Q83r and I bet for $34 (into $138). NZ hems and haws then folds (though I was double barreling him for $43 regardless), I giggle and show cuz why not?

Today I finished some coaching, am now feeling like utter hell, and am about to pass out. I need to get my car in the shop this week to ensure she can make it to NM later this week. I am off to balloon fest for the long weekend, which is about an 8hr drive (each way)…so I want to make sure my car won’t die in the desert. If anyone is going to be around for balloon fest (in Albuquerque), just give me a HU! Hope all is well.
