Sept 17 – Video Grinding

Comments off 451 Views0

This week just absolutely flew by. I got a new toy, had an interview, relaxed a little…overall it was good stuff. And yes, I said interview…a word I never really thought I would use on this blog. I spent the first few days of the week getting ready for it, everything from getting a resume together to buying interview attire (believe it or not…the poker world doesn’t necessitate shirts/pants, lol). It was a little awkward putting together a resume given my last 5 years have been totally poker dominated…but I just highlighted the business side of everything (video creation, coaching, marketing, etc.) and was honest when poker came up.

I also got a new toy this week…which has taken quite a bit of time (and needs a lot more time). I got an Axiom 25, which is a midi controller that has 25 keys, 8 trigger pads, and waaaaay too many options. This is my first midi controller, and tbh, I don’t really know how to play piano at all. I also have no idea how to use a lot of this stuff…so a lot of my time has been spent watching tutorials, reading the manual, and tons of trial/error. Here is a picture of my desk/office space and the axiom should be pretty easy to pick out, lol

I also met up with my co-coach of my protege program the other night. Had a few beers, talked about his new business, and just shot the shit. I didn’t feel quite right after, so I went and played poker for an hour or so (since we met at V). The table was pretty awful, but I just wanted to burn time so I played pretty tight overall and just picked my spots. Only made one aggro play when I 3bet 72s versus a kid with a major fold button…and walked out + a little bit. It actually felt really good to play again, so maybe I’ll try to get some grinding in soon. We shall see…
.
And on that note, I am going to go relax for a few before my first student of the day. I’ll be down at Cosmo tonight for a concert, and have a relatively busy day in the meantime. Hope all is well with you!
